Bubba: 2019 Year in Review

When describing large undertakings, and the amount of time and investment they require, someone once said, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” As it turns out, neither are lifestyle brands designed to change the way people relate to fishing. If you haven’t noticed, Bubba is in the midst of a major transformation. With the finest array of knives in the business as the foundation, Bubba launched the Ultimate Lifestyle in 2019.

Looking back on the trajectory of the brand, 2019 will be seen as a pivotal year for Bubba. As we recap some of the milestones we have reached along the way, we would like to thank everyone who has been part of the process so far. After all, no matter how large the endeavor, it’s important to celebrate the many small victories along the way.

On February 15, 2019 Bubba Blade became Bubba. More than a knife company, the new Bubba was conceived as the Ultimate Lifestyle—one that provides everything necessary to take your favorite fish from the water to plate. Bubba launched an entirely new website and updated its packaging. Perhaps most importantly, we introduced a new line of performance apparel and a comprehensive line of fishing accessories.

In homage to the brand’s iconic non-slip rubber knife grips, our new products—fishing pliers, carbon fiber gaffs, new knife models and carbon fiber nets-- all feature the famous red handles. So far, everything has been extremely well received.

Not only have we built on the network of hardcore anglers and captains who put our products to work every day, but also the quality has been recognized by the industry. Our 110V Electric Fillet Knife won the New Product Showcase's Best in Category for Cutlery, Hand Pliers or Tools at ICAST. (ICAST is the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades—the world’s largest and most prestigious fishing trade show).

To tie all of the efforts together, Bubba launched the Ultimate Lifestyle campaign. This video series profiles individuals who embody what it means to live and fish to the fullest—while enjoying all of the great things that go along with it. From Rhode Island’s Capt. Robby Taylor to Baja California’s Chef Cosmo Goss to the Bimini Bliss Resort in the Bahamas, these videos bring the concept to life. We have some more awesome stories to share with you all in 2020.

In October, we collaborated with Charleston, South Carolina’s Holy City Brewing Company. After all, what goes better with fishing and eating your favorite seafood than beer? The answer very well could be, “Nothing.” That is right we have officially launched our very own Bubba Blonde Ale. There has perhaps never been a can of beer that is more at home on a boat.

When thinking about the year 2019, Bubba is both thankful and excited. We’ve accomplished many firsts for the brand and are positioned for a bright future. More than anything, we’d like to thank all of the people who have made it possible. Here’s to the 2020 and the Ultimate Lifestyle.
